Scientific early childhood education system

Referring to the Canadian early childhood education guideline, Polaris develops “play-based” curriculum, which fits the child developmental stages with internationalized characteristics. Through play, children develop at physical, cognitive, emotional, social, and creative levels.

According to world well-known psychologists and educationalist Jean Piaget, children get to know the world around them through the experience. At the sensorimotor stage which is usually from birth to 2 years old, children’s experience is mainly from senses. Even for bigger children, sensory playing is still an important part of early learning. Sensory Playing provides an environment where young children can use multi-senses to freely explore the world, and therefore enhance their cognitive development and early learning.

Young children, like anybody else, also need quiet private time. Children of 0-3 years old are in the stage of “solitary play” and “Parallel play”, where they spend time playing by themselves and with other people around but not necessarily with interaction with others. Quiet space offers a valuable opportunity where children use age-appropriate tools and toys for freely exploration with the teacher’s guidance. Quiet space, as a strategy used in North American early childhood education, promotes independence of young children as well as internalization of learning.

The great artist Picasso said “Every child is born as an artist.” Young children are full of passion for creativity. Art education is not only a tool to cultivate fine artistic taste from young age, but also a valuable experience to solve problems using a variety of methods. Besides, arts is a powerful way to express oneself, as well as a channel to release emotions. Using different art material, ECE teachers will help children enrich their sensory and artistic world, therefore to enhance their expression from very young age.

Drama is one of the earliest forms that human being used to express their feelings. Dramatic play is a commonly used play form in North American daycares and kindergarten. Dramatic play has a irreplaceable role in children’s development. It is a way to promote socialization in a “play” environment. In dramatic play, children take various social roles, therefore accumulate social knowledge and improve social competence. At the same time, children use a lot of symbols to represent real objects, and such symbol play is a great way to promote children’s imagination and cognitive development.

From birth to 3 years old, children experience rapid development of gross motor skills, from sitting, crawling, standing, walking, running, kicking and jumping, etc. Creative movement, accompanied with well-chosen music, will assist children’s gross-motor skills further in a scientific way as well as coordination.

Effective early childhood professionals educating system

Based on the “Whole Child Education” system, Polaris develops early childhood teacher educating curriculum, which focuses on the integration of solid theoretical foundation and enriched practical values.

Historically and today’s important educational ideas and concepts will be comprehensively introduced to lay a solid theoretical foundation for early childhood educators.

This parts focuses on cultivating ECE teachers’ practical ability. It involves aspects such as daily child care, nutrition, curriculum design and implementation. A large number of practical cases and the early education “toolbox” prepared for ECE teachers will provide great convenience for their classroom practice. Besides the curriculum development ability will also be improved in this module, so that teachers will be equipped with independent innovation ability.

Early education is not just a matter between early education teachers, early education institutions and children, but involves interactions with large and small environments at all levels, including family, community, and society. Co-cultivation also means the promotion of common understanding and common growth. This module focuses on the qualities and responsibilities of early education workers, the establishment of an early education environment, and home, school, and community co-education.

Evaluation is an important tool to guide children’s sustainable and healthy development, and it is also one of the important qualities that early education teachers should have. This module involves the content, methods, and use of early education results of the early education assessment. It comprehensively assesses various indicators such as body, cognition, language, emotions, social interaction, and creativity to guide the direction of healthy development of young children.
